Virtual Paralegal Services

What is a Virtual Paralegal?

In 1997, the American Bar Association's (ABA)House of Delegates adopted the following definition of a Paralegal:

"A legal assistant or paralegal is a person, qualified by education, training or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible."

(Source: American Bar Association at http://www.americanbar.org/groups/paralegals/resources/current_aba_definition_of_legal_assistant_paralegal.html).

Essentially, expanding upon the ABA's Paralegal definition, a Virtual Paralegal is a Paralegal, working under the direct supervision of an attorney, who works from a remote location. Virtual Paralegals operate their own businesses and may also refer to themselves as Freelance Paralegals. A Virtual or Freelance Paralegal is distinct from an Independent Paralegal. Independent Paralegals usually offer their services to attorneys and to the general public. CM Paralegal Services is a Virtual Paralegal company. We provide services to lawyers licensed to practice in the United States. We do not provide legal advice. If you believe you have a legal issue and need to consult with an attorney, you can contact your state bar association for a listing of attorneys in your area.
